MODEL 587

This is a classic old-fashioned recessed furniture lock, also known as a cabinet lock or triangular-bolt drawer lock. Its triangular bolt is the most distinctive and core design feature.

Core Structure & Design Highlights

Overall Material: The lock body is primarily made of iron, zinc alloy, or cold-rolled steel plate, with an electroplated or painted surface for basic rust and wear resistance. It is suitable for most wooden and metal furniture environments.

Triangular Bolt Design

The main body of the bolt is a square metal plate, with an upward-sloping triangular bevel at the front end-this is what sets it apart from ordinary bolts.

When locked, the vertical side of the triangular front end fits into the cabinet's strike hole, providing a larger engagement area that offers better anti-pry performance than standard sloped bolts. The bevel also guides the bolt smoothly into the strike hole when closing the drawer, preventing jams and balancing stability with ease of use.

The bolt is spring-loaded for extension and retraction, controlled by turning a key. It cannot be unlocked by pushing the drawer closed, as a key is always required.

Installation Method: It is installed recessed into the side of the drawer, requiring a hole to be drilled, the lock body inserted, and then secured with screws. This ensures a firm fit that is compatible with the hole sizes of most old-style furniture.

Key Configuration: Typically supplied with individual keys, some models also support a "master key" system for shared access across multiple locks.
